Wellington Industries
The Need
Wellington Industries, an automotive stamping and welding company formed some 40 years ago, is headquartered in Belleville, Michigan, with an office also in Georgia. Upon joining the company in 2004, Director of Human Resources Gary Sievert immediately evaluated many internal systems and processes, including the company's time and attendance system.
"I realized that our time system was somewhat archaic, and we needed a change," says Gary, who thought the timecard punch-in system used by their 160 hourly employees definitely needed upgrading.
The Action At a former employer, Gary had utilized Cincinnati Time Systems and was impressed with the user-friendly time system they set up. So, he arranged an appointment.
"For Wellington Industries, I wanted something that created an easier process for our payroll administrator, and which also had security systems in place," says Gary, who helps this privately-held company become technologically-advanced and efficient.
Upon meeting with Cincinnati Time Systems, together they chose the Hand-Reader time clock, a definite improvement to what they previously had. (Mark/Scott to share which model) Employees simply place their hand in the Reader and press a few buttons.
"Employees initially were hesitant initially, only because change can be difficult. Once they saw that it was easy, they liked it," Gary says.
The Benefits Wellington Industries really experienced a difference from their previous labor-intensive punch card system -- increased time, productivity and security. The payroll administrator appreciates the system ease of inputting new employees and uploading information to conduct payroll.
"We are very impressed with the accuracy and efficiency of our system now," says Gary, emphasizing that system security immediately improved one hundred-percent, as employees could not punch colleagues in and out. "Our employees are sold on the system and trust it, as their time is more accurate," he says.
When Wellington Industries later began using a new payroll company, Gary immediately contacted Cincinnati Time Systems. "They did not miss a beat in bringing in our new system. It was exceptional," he says. "Our experiences have been nothing but exceptional, from selling us the right product to implementing the system to their help-desk people. They always are professional, friendly and outstanding."
